Family Boats: a trusted Kiwi name

Family Boats has long been a household name for Kiwi boaties, known for representing quality international brands and providing top-level service and support. From fishing launches to family runabouts, the Auckland-based dealership has built its reputation on connecting New Zealanders with boats that fit our unique coastal lifestyle.

Now, they’re expanding their portfolio with something fresh from Europe.

IRON Boats arrive in New Zealand

Sweden’s IRON Boats have carved out a reputation in Europe for their mix of bold design and practical performance. These are not just striking to look at, but engineered for real-world conditions. The brand’s trademark fender profile, complete with air channels, reduces roll and resonance, lowers the centre of gravity, and creates a smooth, silent ride even when conditions turn rough.

As Family Boats director Cameron George put it, “These boats are built for people who want to stand out, but also demand real capability on the water.”

Two models will be the first to reach New Zealand: the IRON 707 Open and the flagship IRON 907 Open, both arriving in the Family Boats showroom next month.

IRON 707 Open: performance and practicality

The IRON 707 is built for memorable days on the water, comfortably carrying up to seven people. With Mercury outboard options from 175 to 250hp, it delivers punchy performance, reaching speeds of over 40 knots and beyond while staying composed in all conditions.

IRON 907 Open: the flagship

The IRON 907 is built around a single-engine setup and rated for Mercury’s powerful 500R, delivering top speeds of up to 57 knots. True to IRON’s reputation, stability is a defining feature, enhanced here by a newly designed stringer system. The result is a smoother, more forgiving ride that inspires confidence and comfort, even when the sea turns rough.

With the arrival of the IRON 707 Open and 907 Open, Kiwi boaties now have the chance to experience a slice of Swedish innovation first-hand. Rugged, refined, and built to turn heads as well as tackle rough seas, these boats signal an exciting new chapter for Family Boats and for New Zealanders chasing performance with attitude.
