Fast, stylish and perfectly suited to modern coastal adventure, Beneteau’s new GT models blend luxury, performance and design into the ultimate crossover express cruisers.

Gran Turismo in the water: Beneteau’s modern take on express cruising

“Gran Turismo” — it’s a term steeped in European heritage, born on the long winding roads between Paris and Milan. Originally used to describe grand overland journeys by carriage, it evolved through the 20th century into a hallmark of high-performance touring cars: sleek, fast, and built for comfort at speed.

Beneteau’s adoption of the name is no coincidence. With the release of the all-new Gran Turismo 35 and 40 Coupé, the French boatbuilder draws directly from that legacy — launching a new generation of express cruisers that are as capable at sea as a GT car is on the open road. This is fast cruising, redefined for modern life afloat.

This is not a simple update to the popular Gran Turismo model line. Instead, Beneteau has crafted a complete reinvention, shaped by owner feedback, real-world data, and a rich 140-year heritage. The result is a pair of boats that balance performance, design and comfort with a new level of sophistication. The Gran Turismo 35 and 40 Coupé embody the “Sport-Lux” philosophy: speed meets style, luxury meets versatility, and driving pleasure meets everyday usability.

Design that moves: European style meets Japanese simplicity

Both the GT35 and GT40 Coupé benefit from a fresh design approach that blends European elegance with minimalist Japanese principles. The philosophies of Kanso (simplicity) and Yūgen (gracefulness) shape every curve, line and surface. The hull’s clean silhouette, complemented by signature light blades, creates a powerful yet understated presence on the water.

Beneteau’s former luxury brand, Monte Carlo Yachts, once set high standards for European design and craftsmanship within the Beneteau Group. Though the GT range targets a different market segment, that influence remains. The GT models borrow Monte Carlo’s attention to refined detail and premium finishes, especially visible in the limited Alpine Edition’s bespoke colourways, black flourishes and navy-blue interior highlights. This lineage reinforces the GT’s image as a truly premium crossover express cruiser.

Living afloat: villa-style layouts for maximum comfort and versatility

Beneteau’s “villa living” concept takes centre stage on both models. The open-plan layouts create seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, prioritising connection to the sea and to fellow passengers. Hinge-down balconies expand the aft deck, inviting guests closer to the water. Fore and aft seating convert effortlessly into large sunpads, perfect for relaxing after a fast cruise.

The GT35 maximises these features within its 11.2-metre (36’9”) frame, making it an inviting social platform for couples or small families. Inside, a convertible forward berth, mid-cabin and well-equipped galley enable overnight comfort without sacrificing space. Soft lighting and clever storage enhance the feeling of calm.

The GT40 Coupé, at 12.5 metres (41’), builds on this with options for open or enclosed cabins, larger galley facilities, and more spacious cabins. The aft deck’s L-shaped seating and wet bar create an ideal entertainer’s space. Flip-up seating in the foredeck sunpad adds flexibility, while ambient lighting throughout creates an inviting atmosphere whether at anchor or dockside.

Performance that delivers: Mercury or Yanmar, outboard or sterndrive

Performance lies at the heart of the GT experience. The GT35 comes standard with twin Mercury Verado 300hp outboards, with an option for 350hp. Its two 370-litre fuel tanks allow speeds over 41 knots, combining power with impressive range. The boat’s hull form and balanced weight distribution deliver a confident, comfortable ride that invites spirited cruising.

The GT40 Coupé offers even more choice. Twin Mercury Verado 400hp outboards push speeds beyond 35 knots, while the alternative twin Yanmar 8LV 320hp sterndrives provide diesel efficiency and a top speed exceeding 32 knots. Fuel capacity jumps to 1200 litres for petrol and 805 litres for diesel, supporting longer passages. Both setups benefit from ergonomically designed helm stations focused on driver comfort and control.

Together, these powertrain options position the GT range as true crossover express cruisers — agile enough for quick coastal runs, yet comfortable and capable for extended cruising.
