As the fleet battles through treacherous conditions under a severe storm system, Paul Cousin aboard Région Normandie has struck a rock outcrop with his port rudder at the entrance to Ría del Muros. The skipper is unharmed, but is currently unable to continue racing. He’s working to free his rudder and divert into Portosin, where he’s expected to arrive around 2am. Cousin has confirmed his withdrawal from the second stage and is determined to get back on the line for the final leg starting from Pornichet.
