Genesis Targa: Kiwi icons for sale

Genesis Marine was a highly respected New Zealand manufacturer of luxury fiberglass production cruisers and sports boats. Founded in 1984 by Chris Pollock, the company established itself as an iconic Kiwi brand known for high-performance, economical, and stylish offshore cruisers.

The brand was celebrated for blending indoor and outdoor living seamlessly. They pioneered features like open-plan saloons, large cockpits, and extended teak swim platforms ideal for New Zealand conditions.

Following the 2008 global financial crisis and the resulting drop in demand for luxury boats, Genesis Marine went into liquidation in early 2009. While the original manufacturing business ceased operating, Genesis boats remain sought after on the used market.

Targa range

The Targa configuration occupies the premium “sports cruiser” segment of Genesis’ lineup. Designed specifically to handle New Zealand’s changeable coastal weather and climate, the Targa range features a solid hardtop, large tinted sliding roof hatches, and a seamless flow from the enclosed saloon to the open teak cockpit.

Genesis 360 Targa

The 360 Targa has been a staple in the New Zealand and Australian boating scenes. It is highly regarded as a true bluewater coastal cruiser.

Usually measures around 11 metres in length with a 3.5 metre beam. The 360 features an open-plan two-cabin layout, a forward double berth and a versatile aft cabin/lounge. They’re typically powered twin inboard diesel engines. These engines are most commonly paired with sterndrives (stern legs) equipped with duoprops or V-drive shafts, depending on the specific model and year. Cruising speeds hover between 18–25 knots, with sprint speeds reaching around 30 knots.

Designed with entertaining in mind, it includes an island BBQ area, a large swim platform that serves as a great fishing or tender-boarding platform.
