NZ Marine Executive Director Peter Busfield was excited when Chris Gibbs of Oceanmax and Young Professionals in Yachting International (YPY) proposed setting up a New Zealand chapter of YPY.
NZ Marine’s Board of Management recently approved the New Zealand chapter as a sector group of NZ Marine and offered administrative services and meeting rooms at NZ Marine House to assist setting up a New Zealand chapter.
YPY is a network of land-based yachting professionals, created to encourage the sharing of industry news and connections, while helping members develop their skills and career. With chapters around the world, the organisation is designed to facilitate success for young professionals within the worldwide marine industry and yachting business community.

Chris Gibbs (Oceanmax), Stacey Cook (NZ Marine), Isla McKechnie (Albatross PR), Andrew Clouston (Yachting NZ) and Kit Carlier (Kit Carlier Design) are behind bringing YPY to New Zealand. They are now inviting expressions of interest from land-based yachting professionals under 41 seeking to join NZ Marine’s YPY NZ.
